TCA Skin Peel and Trichloroacetic Acid
What is a TCA Peel?
A TCA skin peel is a medium to light peel, which uses trichloroacetic acid to create a balanced, controlled exfoliation of several layers of damaged epidermis. This exposes a new, fresh layer of skin and pores with a more even color and a smoother texture. In addition, the TCA peel stimulates new cells to grow, thereby tightening the skin and decreasing lines and wrinkles. There are also several types of peels, including the Blue Peel, deep peel, and medical grade peel to name a few.

Using a low concentration of the chemical trichloroacetic acid mixed with a special blue base, to monitor the appropriate depth, the peel effectively removes the surface layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. These dead skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to resurface. Because this is a slightly more aggressive procedure than the basic TCA peel, a local anesthesia may be administered and one or more coats of the Obaji Blue Peel will be applied.
